This photo was taken in Ballingho village in the North Bank region of the Gambia, West Africa. Ballingho is a fishing village inhabited by both fishermen and farmers. The women seen in the picture are using locally made long-handled hoes to plough their farmlands. They are making nursery rice beds that will later be transplanted on their farmlands.
